Counseling Practicum & Internship

Make an Impact While Building Your Counseling Experience

Community LINC provides graduate students with an opportunity to gain meaningful, hands-on experience through our Counseling Practicum & Internship program. Graduate students participating in the Counseling Practicum & Internship program have the opportunity to gain the supervised clinical hours required for graduation with their master’s degree.

This experience allows hands-on opportunities to develop and strengthen students' counseling skills while working with a diverse range of clients and client needs. Students may gain experience providing services to adults, children, couples, families, and groups, allowing them to build competency across a variety of counseling settings and therapeutic approaches.

From Classroom Learning to Clinical Practice

The program is designed to support students as they transition from academic learning to professional counseling practice while meeting the clinical experience requirements of their graduate program.

Students receive guidance from a board-approved supervisor who is a clinically licensed therapist, providing professional oversight, support, and valuable clinical guidance as they develop their counseling skills in a real-world setting.

Gain Meaningful, Real-World Experience

A practicum is an important step in preparing for a career in counseling. At Community LINC, students have the opportunity to learn in a supportive environment while gaining exposure to the challenges, strengths, and experiences of families working toward greater stability and independence.

Depending on program requirements and placement opportunities, practicum students may gain experience in areas such as:

  • Working alongside experienced professionals
  • Supporting individuals and families
  • Developing professional counseling and communication skills
  • Learning about trauma-informed and client-centered approaches
  • Gaining experience in a community-based nonprofit environment
  • Connecting classroom learning with real-world practice

Who Should Apply?

This opportunity is intended for graduate-level college students seeking a counseling or family practicum placement and internship related to mental health. Students participating in the program have the opportunity to gain the supervised clinical hours required for completion of their master’s degree.

Students should be enrolled in an applicable college or university program and able to meet the internship or practicum requirements established by their academic institution.

Please note: This is a counseling/family practicum opportunity and is not a social work internship.
