Regina’s Story
September 10, 2025 | TestimonialsIn 2020, Regina relocated from her hometown in Oklahoma to Kansas City in hopes of finding better job opportunities. With a few family members already in the area, she was hopeful of receiving support as she began her new chapter with her two children, K’Janae and Lakeem. At the time, she was unemployed and had lost her car, forcing her and her children to stay with a relative in a cramped apartment, not ideal for family. Her son needed one on one educational services due to developmental disabilities, adding to Regina’s stress and urgency to find a stable home.
Regina and her kids were introduced to Community LINC through a referral from a community partner. Our holistic approach to self-sufficiency assisted Regina with securing better employment, building career skills, learning budgeting strategies, accessing mental wellness support, and more. Our Children’s Program has offered her kids academic support, enriching educational activities, behavioral guidance, and plenty of fun; educational field trips, outdoor play, BBQs and activities provided by Community LINC’s volunteers.
Today, Regina works in the Environmental Services department at a local hospital, while her children are excelling in school and forming new friends on the Community LINC campus. Regina has also started saving and is on track to moving into her own home.
No family should have to face challenges like Regina’s alone. In this (economic) moment, your support is more vital than ever. Your generosity empowers families to move from crisis to stability, one step at a time. Please join us today in making a lasting impact in our community.
