Job Description
The Part-Time Preschool Assistant Teacher plays a vital role in supporting classroom instruction and
providing trauma-informed behavioral guidance. This position works closely with the Lead
Teacher and Children’s Program team to build a structured, loving environment where children
feel seen, safe, and supported.

Hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30-8:30 PM

Classroom Support & Student Engagement

  • Assist with leading group activities and play-based learning experiences.
  • Support individual children during emotional or behavioral challenges using calm,
    trauma-informed responses.
  • Help implement behavioral support plans and reinforce classroom expectations.

Behavioral Support

  •  Encourage positive peer interactions and model appropriate social behaviors.
  • Provide consistent and compassionate support during transitions, routines, and group
    time.
  • Assist with de-escalation techniques and redirection when needed.

Team Colaboration

  • Work in partnership with the Lead Teacher and Children’s Program Coordinator to
    maintain a cohesive classroom culture.
  • Share observations on children’s behavior and progress to inform support strategies.
  • Participate in staff meetings, planning sessions, and training as needed.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  •  Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Psychology, Social
    Work, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with children in behavioral management,
    special education, or trauma-informed environments.
  • Strong understanding of behavioral management techniques, trauma-informed care, and
    childhood development.
  • Ability to work with children from diverse backgrounds and adapt approaches to meet
    each child’s unique needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative and empathetic
    approach.
