Employment

70% of the underemployed adults we serve will secure employment and 60% will increase their income upon exit to permanent housing.

Nadeen

Always a hard worker and go-getter, Nadeen never expected to be homeless. Family issues and a job loss disrupted the successful life she had built for herself, and Nadeen and her two daughters had no option but to move to a shelter.

Antonio and Elaine

Upon discovering their pregnancy, Tony and Elaine were excited to start a new chapter of their lives in Kansas City. Months later, the pregnant couple and their two sons were living in their broken-down truck.

Teenesha

Teenesha’s struggle to find a safe place to raise her two sons began long before she moved into Community LINC. She made the first step toward security by escaping a violent home. Sadly, she wasn’t given the time she needed to regroup. Instead, the young family bounced from shelter to shelter and eventually became the victims of two attempted drive-by shootings.

Monica

Monica and her children lived in an unstable community that led to them losing their home. The family came to Community LINC after spending some time at a shelter. Monica and her children participated in all of Community LINC’s Supportive Services. Monica found employment near her permanent home and is enjoying the position and her new sense of responsibility.

Generational Impact

We apply a two-generational approach to ending homelessness, which decreases the likelihood the cycle of homelessness will continue.
